Tom Grace proudly returns for his eighth season as the Director of Communications and "Voice of the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins." In this role, Tom performs play-by-play duties for all Penguins regular season and playoff games on TV, radio, the Internet and B2 Networks. Tom has earned tremendous respect around the league for his professionalism, and award-winning broadcast style. In 2002, The American Hockey League selected him as the recipient of the James H. Ellery Award for excellence in Radio broadcasting; the league's highest honor.

That marked the third straight year that Mr. Grace has been directly involved with the Ellery Award, as he was the TV play-by-play announcer for the Penguins' award winning broadcasts first in 1999-2000 with WBRE TV-28, and the 2000-2001 season with Fox Sports Net Pittsburgh.

In addition, on two different occasions the Nashville Predators have "called Tom up" for NHL regular season broadcasts; he made his regular season NHL broadcasting debut, working a game for the Predators vs. Chicago, and then the following season he called the action as Nashville beat the Dallas Stars 4-1.

The parent Pittsburgh Penguins have also employed Tom over the past six NHL seasons for various pre-season broadcasts in Wilkes-Barre , Atlanta , Toronto , Hershey, and for the now famous professional debut of Sidney Crosby, teamed with Mario Lemieux, against the Boston Bruins on September 21, 2005 . In fact, the OLN Network prominently featured Tom’s exciting highlight calls from that contest in their national NHL television on-air promotions. Mr. Grace was also selected to host the 2001 AHL Skills Competition on national television, and handled the 2001 AHL All-Star Game radio play-by-play.

Grace also hosts the "Penguins Report" weekly radio show and handles all hotel accommodations and meals for the team for every road trip, Tom is very active in the community as well, and helps out with many of the team's busy player appearances and school/charity visits, and contributes a variety of stories and articles for the official game program. In addition, he is a popular keynote speaker, who keeps a much-in-demand schedule of civic and charity speaking engagements.

The Penguins hired Tom after a highly successful, three-year tenure as Director of Broadcasting and Media Relations for the Hampton Roads Admirals (now better known as the AHL's Norfolk Admirals). During that stint with the club from 1996-99, he handled all radio and television play-by-play, including an ECHL Kelly Cup championship season in 1998, hosted the weekly radio and television shows, and coordinated all aspects of the Admirals' media and communications department.

Tom's other pro hockey experience includes part-time work as the color analyst for the Worcester IceCats in 1995-1996, and was a member of the NHL Entry Draft Staff serving as the floor coordinator for the event from 1996-1999. In 1996 he was the team liaison for the victorious Eastern Conference NHL All-Star Team at the Fleet Center in Boston , MA .

The Belmont , Mass. native first broadcast hockey on WZBC 90.3 FM, as a four-year student play-by-play announcer for the No.1 ranked Boston College Eagles. After graduating from BC in 1986 with a double major in communications and economics, he was hired as the on-air television reporter for the Boston College Football program "Eagles Preview" airing on ABC affiliate WCVB. He also served as the color analyst for three years on the BC Hockey Radio Network. He added a master of arts in journalism from the University of Texas at Austin graduating with honors in May of 1992. At Texas he was the beat writer for Texas Longhorns football and golf. Tom then gained valuable media experience as a cable TV sports anchor, and as an award winning newspaper sports columnist in Florida .
