DRAFTED: Edmonton Oilers eighth round selection in the 2004 National Hockey League Entry Draft

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS: Spent time in Oilers 2006-07 pre-season training camp, appearing in three games (Edmonton went 2-1-0 with Spurgeon in the lineup) … in 2005-06, was awarded the team’s “Humanitarian of the Year” and “Most Sportsmanlike” honors … helped guide the Kelowna Rockets to a Western Hockey League President’s Cup championship in 2004-05, scoring 11 playoff goals … led the team in scoring in 2004-05, also capturing the team’s “Top Defensive Forward” award and “Humanitarian of the Year” award ... in 2003-04, helped guide Kelowna the Canadian Hockey League’s Memorial Cup Championship (awarded to the tournament champion in a field comprised of teams from the WHL, Ontario Hockey League and Quebec Major Junior Hockey League) … in 2002-03, was a part of a Rockets team that won their first President’s Cup title in club history … former teammates with National Hockey League experience include Shea Weber (Nashville Predators) and Josh Gorges (San Jose Sharks) … played for Kelowna with current Thunder teammate Troy Bodie.
