2004 - Present Home and Road Sweaters

For the 2004-2005 Season the Wilkes-Barre Penguins changed the pattern of the Home and Road Jerseys. The jersey was inspired by the Pittburgh Penguins Jerseys as a way to visually enhance the affiliation with our parent club. Additionally the bright yellow used in previous years would be replaced by the same Vegas gold used by Pittsburgh. Although it is only in its second year, we have already seen a few variations in these sweaters:

During the break between the 04-05 and 05-06 season the league annouced that it would go back to wearing white jerseys at home. All of the sudden the 04-05 home sweater is now the 05-06 road sweater.

The 05-06 season marks the first of a ten year league deal that has Reebok locked in as the official league supplier. Beyond the obvious change in manufacturer, the material used to manufacturer the sweater is bit lighter. Also note that the dye sublimated Vegas gold stripes on the side would be replaced by gold dazzle cloth and the red stripe would be replaced by a top stitched red aeroknit stripe sewn onto the jersey.

Although the number stock remains the same, the Penguins woud change the namebar stock to a single color tackle twill for the 05-06 season. there are changes to report between the 05-06 and 06-07 seasons.

The photo belows show the difference in the dye subbed gold stripe SP version of the jerseys worn in 04-05 and the dazzle cloth version manufacturered by CCM/Reebok from 05-06 through 06-07.
