The Penguins are third in the East Division with a 33-15-2-3 record, good for 71 points. They are fourth in the Eastern Conference in total points and sixth overall in the American Hockey League.

JACQUES TIES TEAM MARK
Jean-Francois Jacques netted four goals in the Penguins’ 7-0 win against the Binghamton Senators on February 16, tying the franchise mark for goals in a game. Erik Christensen previously set the bar with a four-goal outing on opening night of the 2005-06 season against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.

The hat trick was the third in Jacques’ AHL career (he netted two last year as a member of the Hamilton Bulldogs), and was the third by a Wilkes-Barre/Scranton player this season, following Kyle Brodziak’s on January 6 and Marc-Antoine Pouliot’s on February 7.

A MARGINAL VICTORY
The Penguins’ 7-0 win on February 16 against Binghamton equaled the largest margin of victory in team history. It was the fourth time the Pens’ have defeated their opponents by seven goals, with all four of those games coming on home ice.

NO SHUTOUT STREAK SNAPPED
The Penguins’ 1-0 loss to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers on Sunday afternoon was the first time the team had been held without a goal this season, and was the first shutout posted against the Pens since March 31, 2006, when the Binghamton Senators posted a 2-0 win. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton had gone 60 consecutive games without being shut out prior to Sunday’s game.

BONVIE MOVING IN ON MATHERS
Dennis Bonvie appeared in his 200th game as a member of the Penguins on December 29 in Syracuse, and now ranks 14th on the Penguins all-time games played list at 212. Martin Sonnenberg holds down the 13th spot at 213, while Toby Petersen (215) and Matt Murley (216) sit just outside the top 10.

Bonvie is also the AHL’s active leader in career games played with 798, and passed Zellio Toppazzini, who suited up with the Hershey Bears and Providence Reds from 1948-1964, for 28th place on the AHL’s all-time games played list on December 29. He currently trails former Hershey Bears great Frank Mathers by one game for 27th place.
