PENGUINS ADD CONKLIN BETWEEN PIPES
Veteran Netminder Has Played in 76 NHL Games

 

The Pittsburgh Penguins have signed goaltender Ty Conklin, it was announced today by Assistant General Manager Chuck Fletcher.

Conklin, 31, has appeared in 76 career National Hockey League contests with the Edmonton Oilers, Columbus Blue Jackets and Buffalo Sabres, posting a 30-24-7 record with a 2.65 goals against average and a .900 save percentage.

The 6-0, 185 pound native of Anchorage, AK, has also suited up for 99 career American Hockey League games with the Hamilton Bulldogs, Hartford Wolf Pack and Syracuse Crunch, recording a 37-39-15 record with a 2.74 goals against average and a .913 save percentage.

Conklin was originally signed by Edmonton as an undrafted free agent on April 18, 2001, after a standout college career at New Hampshire. During his three-year career with the Wildcats, Conklin was 57-23-12 with seven shutouts, a 2.17 GAA and .915 save percentage, establishing school records for GAA, wins, save

percentage and games played.

A two-time member of the Hockey East First All-Star Team, Conklin was named to the NCAA East First All-American Team in 2001 when he ranked fourth in the nation with a 2.05 goals against average and seventh with a .920 save percentage, and was named a Hobey Baker Award finalist.
